Ahmed Abu Zaid: Trade exchange between Egypt and Canada increased by 30%


Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, Egypt’s ambassador to Canada, said that Canada is characterized by technological progress and artificial intelligence.

Abu Zaid continued, during a telephone conversation with the media, Azza Mustafa, on the “Tahrir Hall” program via “Zoom” on the Sada Al-Balad channel, “The Egyptian community in Canada is respected by officials,” noting that there are 6 thousand Egyptian students studying in Canada in stages of education before and after university.

Abu Zeid explained that the volume of trade exchange between Canada and the United States reaches $ 2.5 billion per day thanks to the common borders between the two countries, indicating that during the years 2019 and 2020, Egypt was able to become Canada’s first trade partner in Africa, with an increase of 30%.

He pointed out that the volume of Canadian investments in Egypt are many, including the Monorail project, which will connect Cairo with the Administrative Capital, pointing out that 3 Canadian companies have signed contracts for cooperation with Egypt in the field of gold exploration during the past days.

“Canada sees Egypt as a stable country in a region rife with political, security and economic turmoil, as well as being a gateway to the Middle East and Africa at the commercial and economic level,” he added, stressing that Canada applies precautionary measures to travelers and departures of the country in light of the Corona virus crisis.

He pointed out that Canadian tourism to Egypt witnessed the highest rate before the Coronavirus pandemic, pointing out that Canada is always keen to confirm the privacy of its relationship with other countries and its independence from the United States, by constantly stressing its lack of involvement in the colonial phase in the region.
