Beijing’s ambassador to Cairo, Liao Lichiang, said that Chinese President Xi Jinping supports the establishment of projects in Egypt, stressing that there is readiness to boost them to develop bilateral relations.

On bilateral relations with Egypt, the ambassador spoke in a press conference “online” from the embassy headquarters due to the Corona pandemic, Monday, about the details of the recent phone call that took place between President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, explaining that the two presidents are making great efforts to strengthen the strategic partnership. He pointed out that the president of his country spoke about the depth of relations, considering that Egypt is the first Arab and African countries to have diplomatic relations with China, since 1956, pointing out that the Egyptian and Chinese presidents met 9 times, and there became a personal friendship between them, referring to the volume of investments and projects, including Building cities and railways, the new city of El Alamein and the Belt and Road Initiative. Historically, the Chinese President spoke that his country supported Egypt in its right to nationalize the Suez Canal.
