Press reports revealed that Egypt is among the candidate countries to host the Moroccan Wydad match against Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa, and the postponed first round of the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the rescheduling of the match between February 16 and 20 in a neutral country, after Morocco refused to receive the match in its country due to the Corona pandemic (see details).
According to the Moroccan newspaper “Hesport”, Egypt became one of the candidate countries to receive the match.
She added that contacts took place yesterday evening, Saturday, between some football officials in Morocco and Egypt.
She indicated that Egypt’s representatives will request a license to host the match from the Egyptian authorities, pending the decision on Sunday evening.
It is reported that the Wydad and Kaizer Chiefs match was scheduled to take place on Saturday at Mohammed V Stadium, and the Moroccan authorities refused to allow Kaizer Chiefs to enter Morocco, due to health precautions due to the spread of the new strain of Corona in South Africa.
