Foreign Minister: Egypt is contributing unremitting efforts to achieving peace and development in Africa

Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, affirmed that Egypt believes in the importance of joint African action, and is actively contributing to achieving peace as a pillar of development on the continent.

This came in the keynote speech delivered by Shoukry today, Monday, during the opening session of the Aswan Forum for Sustainable Peace and Development, in its second edition, which is held under the title (Shaping the New Normal Situation in Africa: A Stronger Recovery and Building Better) with the participation of leaders, heads of state and government. And senior officials from African countries.

The Foreign Minister said that Egypt, which is very proud of its African belonging and the importance of joint African action, is Egypt that has historically supported the liberation and independence movements in our mother continent, and it is the same Egypt that realizes that a new phase of renaissance and construction must begin for the benefit of the countries and peoples of that continent, which have been granted and still are. She offers a lot to her children; To encourage them to work, build, and achieve the appropriate international status for a continent rich in its resources and rich in its peoples who aspire to their legitimate rights to development

Shoukry added that to achieve this goal, Egypt is contributing unremitting efforts to achieve peace in the African continent as a pillar of development, and in this context comes the Aswan Forum for Peace and Development in its second version, which comes as an affirmation of Egypt’s belief in the importance of continuing to support the African framework, especially in light of the exceptional circumstances that exist. Imposed by the Corona pandemic that the international community is going through.

He explained that the unprecedented state of turmoil that our world is witnessing today as a result of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic requires all of us to bear in mind the reality of facing this pandemic and its negative economic and social effects, which prompted us to take a decision that the second edition of the Aswan Forum should focus on how to deal with that challenge, and from Then came the selection of the forum title (Shaping the New Normal Situation in Africa: A Stronger Recovery and Building Better) to reflect the importance of not only focusing on the effects of this pandemic, but rather focusing on the solutions needed to overcome them, and discussing how to employ recovery measures to achieve the goals of the AU Agenda 2063 And the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
