Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry affirmed that Egyptian-American relations over the past 4 decades are close and strategic, with many areas of cooperation and mutual benefits, whether from Egypt or the United States.

He added during a phone call to the “Al-Hekaya” program with the journalist Amr Adib on MBC Egypt, that the United States is a great power that has both political and economic capabilities, which makes the importance of dealing with it and extracting common interests through close relations, stressing that Egypt has contact Permanent with the US administration, whether through the two diplomatic missions in Cairo and Washington, or through contact at the level of officials, whether senior officials or at the ministerial level.

He explained that relations continue, whether the administration is from the Republican Party or from the Democratic Party, and this succession over the past forty years has made us deal with different administrations that have different visions, and we always have with them in-depth dialogue, points of agreement and places of difference, and this difference does not mean that there is any kind of divergence. Rather, different visions are in order to reach a point of agreement between us, and in many cases the Egyptian point of view is correct and the American point of view is correct, and we evaluate the matter in the end according to events according to the results.

Regarding the contact between Egypt and America at the present time, he said that contacts at the level of the Egyptian embassy in Washington are in place, and the officials are communicated, whether it is in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the National Security Council in the White House, and the contacts were within the framework of raising interest in relations at the bilateral level and laying down mechanisms for the future to manage these Relationships and talks about regional issues of interest to the United States and Egypt to convey the Egyptian vision.

And when asked about the existence of any concern within the Egyptian Foreign Ministry from the new American administration, he said, “The concern was not in the context of international relations, but first the administration did not clarify its positions on many regional issues, and we must explore them and when this is done, dialogue is completed and evaluated, we can judge the path and to which The extent to which there is a consensus or congruence in the positions of the two countries and the common need to work together to achieve common interests and face challenges. I certainly did not see any room for concern, and there is no room for any optimism, but rather it is to manage relations naturally.

On the issue of the Renaissance Dam, he said, “The file was under the auspices of the African Union, and when the President of South Africa was president of the African Union, we put hope that it would come with results that differ from previous experiences. There were experts on the side of the African Union, but unfortunately these negotiations did not address the technical issues in the way we wanted.” We expect it, and there was a different vision in Sudan and Ethiopia regarding the framework of the negotiations and a desire on the part of our Sudanese partners to change the method of negotiation and this led to the interruption of the negotiation process until the presidency of South Africa ended, but we have hope that the President of the Congo will resume democracy, Felix Chesikade, and he was visiting Egypt and expressed his readiness to continue Efforts to resume negotiations, and we also look forward to more coordination with our brothers in Sudan, especially after the formation of the new Sudanese government, to develop a vision about the next steps. “

When asked about the alternatives proposed to solve the Renaissance Dam crisis, he explained that at this stage we are always talking about reaching a legal agreement on filling and operating that takes into account the interests of the three countries equally, and we express our political will to negotiate and put ourselves in the position of the Ethiopian side and seek to achieve its interests in terms of generating Electricity, especially as it takes into account our interests in preserving the water that comes to both Egypt and Sudan and managing the dam in a safe manner that does not result in any harm to the brothers in Sudan, and we will remain on this because it is an issue and a fair subject matter in which the Egyptian side showed a lot of flexibility and understanding for the interests of our partners, whether In Ethiopia or Sudan, we seek to reach this result, and there may be a difference in the method of negotiation, and there may be an addition to other international parties who are facilitating the matter and are familiar with the positions of states and can propose solutions, but also can evaluate the positions presented by the three countries.

He stressed that the Egyptian state, with all its institutions, takes into account the interest of its people, and this interest is always in mind and never neglects the rights of Egyptians and works with all its capabilities to prevent harm to Egypt and Egyptians, and we have many scenarios within the framework of dealing, but each situation has an appropriate response to it.

Regarding the meeting with partners in the eastern Mediterranean, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said – during a phone call to the “Al-Hekaya” program with the media figure Amr Adib on (MBC – Mubasher Misr) – that the main nucleus is the tripartite Egyptian-Greek-Cypriot cooperation. Expanding this to include the Gulf states, countries that have close relations with Egypt and brothers, we work with them in the framework of preserving Arab national security, and this was the goal to expand this cooperation to a group of countries that have a common understanding and a common vision regarding cooperation issues and also the regional issues and challenges facing us.

He expressed his surprise at the statements of the Turkish side, which spoke that this cooperation is a bloc against Turkey and this is an aggressive thing, saying: “The meeting confirmed that the purpose is cooperation and good for the peoples of this group of countries, and that this is not directed towards anyone and this is in fact surprising that This would only be a reaction if there was a feeling that Turkish policies are attracting such a negative attitude, and this is something in fact that we have not given any weight or paid attention to. “

On the Egyptian-Qatari reconciliation, he said, “When we commit to a document and sign it, we always respect these obligations and fulfill them. Egypt restored diplomatic relations with Qatar, abolished the ban on flying, and resumed direct mailing, and we sought to hold bilateral committees for discussions between the two parties on specific steps to activate the obligations.” What was mentioned in the (Al-Ula) summit, we are in the process of setting a date for these meetings of the bilateral committees, and when they are held, there will be a review of all existing commitments on the two sides, and also an assessment to what extent there is commitment to these pledges and their implementation. “

On the Libyan crisis, the Foreign Minister said that everyone acknowledges that the position and declaration that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi preferred, earlier, when he set the red line (Sirte – Al-Jufra), was the starting point that opened the way for the brothers in Libya to the direction of a political solution and the rejection of the military conflict And the Egyptian state became involved in helping the Libyan brothers to reach this political path.

He explained that what has been reached is certainly an important point and we hope that it will be completed by forming the government within the time frame set for it, and that the government will realize its responsibility to serve the brotherly Libyan people, achieve stability, protect the state’s sovereignty and its capabilities, and work for the exit of all foreign forces from Libyan lands, and end the dangers of terrorism and militias. Outside the control of the state, and certainly the existing commitment to hold elections on December 24, which is an absolute commitment, therefore, the transitional government cannot go beyond this date to hold the elections until the Libyan people express their will and elect their representatives, so that the Libyan state begins with a stable government represented by the administration of the Libyan people.

He added that Egypt will continue to sponsor this path and encourage the brothers in Libya to take these steps, and we also expect that there will be full respect for the Egyptian national security and not to allow any threat coming from the Libyan lands towards the Egyptian western borders, and for this political path to continue away from any military conflict or Fueling would be a hindrance to the political process.

On the Palestinian issue, he said that the new US administration affirmed the two-state solution as the way to end the conflict in the Middle East and the brothers in the National Authority and the Palestinian people adhere to their legitimate rights in which the international community, represented by the European Union, the United States, China and Russia, supports them. Everyone talks about the two-state solution and considers it the solution Realistic, and therefore there was this expression in the recent League Council resolution, as well as all American and European statements that promote the two-state solution. Because it is the means by which to end the conflict, achieve the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and establish their state.
